Plus-Sized Boudoir Beauties | San Diego Boudoir
Plus-Sized? Don't Scroll Past!
If you’re a plus-sized babe about to embark on a boudoir journey of your own, here are a few tips to help you make the most of your experience!
One of the most common misconceptions that we hear about boudoir is that you have to be thin or have the perfect hourglass shape to be able to enjoy your session or produce beautiful photos. This could not be further from the truth! Boudoir is meant for people of all body types and an amazing way to boost your confidence and embrace your beauty.
Choose the right photographer.
Working with the right photographer will make all the difference in your boudoir photos and experience. Look for photographers who talk the body positivity talk and walk the walk.
Browse through their portfolio; do you see women that look like you? Choose someone who works with a variety of body types, as they will have the skills and experience and offer the support you need to best capture your beauty.
Bring a few outfits you’re comfortable in…and a few you’re not.
Boudoir is all about feeling confident, but it’s also about pushing yourself outside of your comfort zone (that’s how you grow!). When you’re selecting outfits for your session, grab a couple you already know you feel good in. Then, go out and buy one or two pieces you’ve always wanted but have been too afraid to wear.
Body suits, high-waisted panty sets, and casual oversized t-shirts are all excellent options for plus-sized ladies, but go with whatever speaks to you!
Let your photographer guide you.
It’s your photographer’s job to make you look and feel your best during your boudoir experience. They’re going to know which poses, angles, lighting, etc. will be the most flattering for your body and best suit your personality. That’s why it’s so important to find the right photographer!
As you’re going through your session, remember to trust them and not worry about looking good. Just focus on feeling beautiful, and your photographer will make sure you look it.
Do it for yourself.
When you’re up there in front of the camera, remember your “why”. Boudoir shouldn’t be about impressing a partner or proving the people who didn’t think you could do it wrong. Your photoshoot should just be about you, your beauty, and your strength.
A great way to help get yourself in this mindset is to go all out for your session. Splurge for the professional makeup and hair. Go to the lingerie store you always walk past and buy that set you always look at but say is too expensive or not your style. Boudoir is an opportunity to pamper yourself, so take it!
