Oceanside Beach Photography
Posted in San Diego Family Photographer
Oceanside is (so far) the farthest north I go for photography, but it is also one of my favorite beach locations, and I’m always happy to make the drive up there. The pier offers great backdrops, both on top and underneath, for kids and family portraits.
This particular photo shoot was on a Saturday morning, so the pier was super busy! Fishermen, joggers, baby strollers, stray loose kids running wild! Oh, those were the kids I was supposed to be photographing….so they were ok. These specific boys are very special to me. I started photographing this family when the oldest was just a newborn. They had a bit of a fertility struggle, so ending up with these 2 sweet, beautiful boys is a true blessing.
Beach photography is definitely one of my favorite genres. I do love a good sunset at the beach, but it’s not always the most ideal conditions for photos, unless you’re equipped with a flash. And sometimes, there is no good sunset, and although the photographs are still beautiful, I worry that people are disappointed if they scheduled this beach photo shoot and got cheated out of a sunset.
So anytime someone schedules a beach photography shoot in the morning I rejoice! I love the soft muted blues and whites of the sky with the golden sand. Without much prompting, this family also dressed perfectly for a beach photo shoot. All the variety of blues and whites looked just stunning.
I am sad that this particular photo shoot was the last one in this family’s package deal. They signed both boys up for the 1st year package, so we got together every 3 months to photograph these growing cuties. Now that the oldest is 41/2 and the youngest is almost 2, they are busy with pee-wee soccer and t-ball and preschool and family trips. They are finally in that sweet zone when the boys can stay out longer and go farther without needing to rush home to nap and feed. So I’m seeing less of them as well. I am sure we will make the annual Christmas card photo session, but I’m not sure how I can do it seeing these littles only once a year. I may need to make a surprise visit to the pee-wee league. 🙂
